You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.
Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at The York has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

The spacious accommodations at The York range from studio, 1, 2 and 4 bedroom apartments, with a private bathroom for each bedroom.
Yes, each apartment at The York has a furniture package that includes a full-size bed, desk and chair and stackable dresser drawers in each bedroom. The living room includes a smart TV, sofa, chair, coffee table and entertainment stand. Furniture packages vary based on apartment size and orientation. The standard term is August 19, 2024 to July 29, 2025, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.
Each resident must pay an administrative fee within 7 days after signing the Housing Agreement. This fee is reduced significantly if the resident provides a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) for their financial obligations under Housing Agreement.
Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. The York also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.
Your living costs at The York can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at The York. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.
The York is designed and offered for students at Towson University, Morgan State University and other local colleges. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Therefore, applications are accepted only from students at one of these local colleges or universities. The York is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes student residents/families with children. There is no extra cost for minor children in the care of adult residents, other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. A minor occupying a bedroom space rented by a parent, guardian or person with legal custody is not considered a breach of the Housing Agreement or a violation of the rules. In order to match student roommates in shared apartments, we will request roommate consent for any non-student occupants.
The York has a monitored fire-sprinkler system, along with electronic locks plus individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also available 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.
The York is a pet-friendly community, subject to limits on animals and breeds. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent spaces. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.
The York offers on-site reserved parking in a parking garage for an additional cost.
The York is just blocks from Towson University campus. The University’s off-campus shuttle bus service, TU Tiger Ride, also has a stop right outside the community on York Road and Chesapeake Ave. The bus runs from 7:15am to 10:30pm weekdays when school is in session.
